How to: Museum

We have all been guilty of rushing through  an museum. I hate to admit that I have done this as well. On a recent trip to The Cummer Museum in Jacksonville. I was so exited to see one specific area of the museum that I did not care enough to see the other works in the museum. I took hours in the that exhibit, but the others I rushed through. I want to go back to that museum give the work I just over looked another chance. For all I know I missed a piece that could have had an impact on my life.

This article had a lot of wonderful points. I agree with that we are trained to see the things we think we are supposed to see. It is hard to think about sitting in front of one piece of art for twenty minutes. We as a society have become so set in our fast pace life style that we want to look at a piece of artwork and it tell us in seconds what is about. However, art does not do that. Some art you have to look deep within yourself to find the answers.

I want to try the technique of walking through slowly and listening to what piece speaks to me, Then siting in front of that piece for thirty minutes. It will also help that we are going to have sketch famous piece of art in the drawing class, which I am super excited about because I have never done that before. However, I do plan on taking photographs of some of the artwork but I will not waste my time trying to take fight the crowds of people to take a selfie with a piece of artwork. I can not wait to see what the museums has in store for me.
